About me
After graduating from a BA in textiles and surface pattern at Leicester Polytechnic I spent several years as a community artist in the Midlands. I then trained and taught art and design in secondary education. in in 2018 I set up and co- managed Zebediahs Makers Collective and the White Room Gallery in Launceston, Cornwall, which I am still part of. I run workshops and make small outdoor mosaic pieces and commissions.
I've always loved the diversity of working with fabrics but am passionate about public art and enlivening outside spaces. I spent several years living in Italy enjoying an outdoor life in the sunshine. Returning to a relatively dull climate I was inspired to brighten outdoor spaces with colourful work which could withstand challenging weather conditions.
I work with outdoor building cements and grouts to ensure the works are durable. I'm also passionate about upcycling and acquire many of the components of my pieces by chance. I like to consider a painterly style exploring texture as well as pattern. I never know exactly how a piece will finish up, as I'm often lead by whatever materials come to hand. I'm especially fond of shells and small pebbles which pay homage to the nearby Cornish coastline
